The topic of Industry 4.0 in schools and in education is of high importance for the whole of Europe. In the Erasmus+ project INDI4.0 (Industrial Interaction 4.0) an exchange of the considerations and concepts made in the partner countries on this topic is made possible. The aim of the INDI4.0 project is in the first step to explain the concept of Industry 4.0 to the learners and to bring about an understanding of the interrelationships, the processes and the networking of the systems. In the second step, selected competencies and skills are imparted that have their relevance in Industrie 4.0 and are used in this context. When imparting knowledge, great importance is attached to ensuring that learners are equipped for the requirements of lifelong learning in the very rapidly developing industry. For this purpose, the teaching units make use of modern and innovative methods and techniques of digital learning. Three vocational schools from the field of automation technology are involved in the Erasmus+ project INDI4.0 (Germany, Spain and Portugal), as well as the Pilz company, which is active in the field of safety technology and has developed an Industry 4.0 demonstration plant. As a result, interactive lesson plans are available to help implement the topic of Industrie 4.0 at schools and in training. Furthermore, methods and tools are shown that guide and support the design of similar lesson plans.
